About CruiseCabinet
CruiseCabinet helps cruisers prepare for the health side of a voyage: what to pack, what the ship's medical center can do, what care can cost, and which questions to ask before you sail.
Why we started
Cruise health information is scattered across government pages, cruise line FAQs and forum threads. Travelers regularly report surprise medical bills and confusion about what travel insurance actually covers. We pull the trustworthy sources together into short, practical guides.
Who writes our guides
Our guides are written by a former cruise ship doctor who spent 11 years at sea. Every guide is built on primary sources, which we link inline and list at the end of each article.
This site does not offer personal consultations, diagnosis or treatment, and we can't answer questions about individual health concerns. For advice about your own health, please see your own doctor or pharmacist. See our medical disclaimer.
Our editorial standards
- Primary sources first: CDC, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), the U.S. State Department, MedlinePlus and the NHS.
- Clearly labeled anecdotes: real-world bill examples come from news reports and traveler forums and are shown as examples, not price lists.
- Information, not advice: we don't diagnose, prescribe or recommend treatment for individuals. Please talk to your own doctor or pharmacist.
- Reviewed and dated: each guide shows when it was published and last updated.
- Transparent about money: some links may earn a commission. That never changes what we write. See our affiliate disclosure.
